Free Storage Jars

July 5 003 copyOne thing we love in our house is coffee, fresh coffee.  We grind our beans every morning so the beans are stored in this glass container next to the coffee maker.  I love this container.  I wanted to put a similar one in the girls bathroom for storage but one that wasn’t glass, I didn’t want it to shatter in the girls bathroom.  The girl’s bathroom is also the main bathroom so it has multiple purposes and it’s not very large. The Best Lemon Bars

I found this lemon bar recipe in one of our old church cook books.  When I say old I mean from when we were kids so kind of old.  These taste like a crumbly sugar cookie with a light lemon top.  It’s not over the top lemony which is what I like. Read More

3D Flower Bows on the Cameo Silhouette

may 027 copyI saw this 3D flower in the store but I didn’t want to spend over a dollar for it.  Gifts can be so beautiful but you really can make them look pretty with things you have. I know not everyone has a Silhouette but I found a 3D flower that I just love. Read More

My Old Wicker Chairs

july 030 copyI remember the day I bought these chairs.  We were newlyweds and had just built a house with a big front porch.  I miss that porch.  Anyway, I saw these Martha Stewart chairs at K-Mart for only $50.  I wasn’t expecting them to last very long but they are still hanging in there 10 (or 14) years later.  Read More

Creamy California BLT Salad

BLT’s are one of my favorite sandwiches, I just love the creamy freshness of it.  I also love avocado so what could be better than adding a little California in it!  Instead of a sandwich this is a great salad that merges these flavors together.  Read More

Painted Hydrangea Centerpieces

We have a huge hydrangea bush at our house and I have never really thought about using them for decorations.  Well, maybe for dried arrangements but not fresh.  I was trying to think of a 4th of July centerpiece, as I was picking up tree clippings, and saw the hydrangea’s. Just white they are beautiful but since I am a little paint happy lately I wanted to try red and blue.  Read More

Fourth of July Pinwheels

Making Pinwheels is pretty easy and who doesn’t like a good pinwheel?  I included a few in my tissue pom decoration.  I did use my Silhouette to make the template but if you don’t have one all you need to do is cut an 8″ x 8″  square and cut up 4 1/2 inches on each corner.  Read More

Fourth of July Tissue Poms

A great way to decorate for the 4th of July is tissue poms.  I use them for many things as you have seen such as bows for presents or decorating a room.  Last year I tied each individual pom to the roof of our gazebo and it took me over an hour to get them up.  Not this year!  Read More

Raspberry Pretzel Dessert

Growing up my mom would make a dessert that will always be one of my all-time favorites.  This is the perfect combination of salty and sweet.  What a beautiful dessert for the 4th of July – just add fresh blueberries to the top for a red, white and blue look. Read More
