Homemade Caramels in Six Minutes

2013 061I just don’t have a lot of time to bake so when I came across this recipe I had to try it!I got this from food.com and talk about easy – it’s done in the microwave!

Ingredients:

1/4 cup butter
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup light Karo syrup
1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
**I added 1 Tbs. vanilla to my recipe.
Put all the ingredients in a microwaveable bowl except the vanilla.

After two minutes take it out and stir.  It will look like this.

Two more minutes and stir again.

And the last two minutes.  It will be in the microwave a total of six minutes.  Add the vanilla in and stir.

Immediately pour it into a greased pan and let it completely cool.

I let mine cool too long because when I woke up in the morning 1/4 of the pan was gone!  Apparently Farm Boy likes caramel.
I cut up wax paper, placed the cut caramel in the center and turned the edges.

To make mine a little extra special, I used my Silhouette Cameo.  I made a paper band to go around them and just taped the ends together.  If you don’t have a Silhouette you could use a cute ribbon or hand cut some pretty paper.

So cute!  These would make a great Valentines candy to go along with the truffles.
